When does a raven become a writing desk?

If you mean “Why is a raven like a writing desk?” then there is no definite answer. Many people assume it has to do with Poe having written on both.

The answer to what you wrote though, I’d say a raven becomes a writing desk when someone kills it and builds one from it’s bones. Would be very small and inefficient though.

In the book Alice in Wonderland, the Mad Hatter asks Alice this riddle. She gives up, and asks for the answer. He says “I haven’t the slightest idea.”
This riddle is actually made up from Lewis Carroll’s imagination. It was meant to have no hidden meaning, but over the years out of curiosity and determination, people came up with their own answer, like the ones above.
